The Morris Fishbein Fellowship in Medical Editing is a unique one-year fellowship opportunity offered by JAMA to introduce physicians to all facets of editing and publishing a major medical journal.
Specific duties of the Fishbein Fellow generally include reviewing and preparing research manuscripts for publication, learning about medical graphics, recording podcasts, working with social media, and writing for the JAMA Patient Page.
At the completion of the program, the Fellow will be proficient with the process of manuscript review and selection, peer review, issue makeup, manuscript editing, medical news writing, and online publishing.
Many former Fishbein Fellows have gone on to careers involving medical publishing and communications.
